If the retirees left prior to any advisories being in place, they would still have full travel coverage up to their day limit on their plan (and covered for COVID-19 related emergencies). Each individual will have to understand their own travel coverage and what their day limit, if any, is. The risk is that by failing to return to Canada while options are available, they may be stranded out of country beyond their day limit and no longer have any coverage.
