Here are the answers to questions you may have about changes to The GM Card. ® Should you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

The credit card arrangement between General Motors Canada Limited (GMCL) and the issuing bank ended on December 31, 2010.

No. You can no longer transact on your GM Card or accumulate GM Card Earnings.

Rest assured - your existing GM Card Earnings are protected. GM is committed to GM Card members and will continue to make the full amount of your GM Card Earnings available to you until December 31, 2017 subject to the terms & conditions of The GM Earnings and Redemption Allowance Program Rules.

Your GM Card Earnings can be redeemed from GM towards the purchase or lease of an eligible new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac (subject to Vehicle Redemption Allowances) until December 31, 2017. Unredeemed GM Card Earnings will expire midnight on December 31, 2017.

Effective January 1, 2011, The GM Card Earnings and Redemption Allowance Program will no longer expire unredeemed Earnings after 7 years. Your GM Card Earnings balance will remain available for you to redeem until December 31, 2017, subject to The GM Card Earnings and Redemption Allowance Program Rules.

Visit www.thegmcard.ca and select "My Earnings" tool. Using the last 4 digits of your account number, and the birth date, postal code and last name of the Primary GM Card member, you can quickly and easily view your available GM Card Earnings balance.

You may also call The GM Card Redemption Centre at 1-888-446-6232 to verify your GM Card Earnings balance and ask any questions relating to The GM Card Earnings and Redemption Allowance Program.

The GM Card Redemption process has not changed. When you're ready to redeem your GM Card Earnings towards an eligible new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle, either call 1-888-446-6232 or use the "My Earnings" tool on www.TheGMCard.ca to verify your GM Card Earnings balance.

Once you've verified your available GM Card Earnings, visit any authorized GM Dealership and select your new eligible vehicle. After you and the dealer representative have discussed the sale or lease price of your vehicle, but before you sign the contract, tell the dealer representative that you want to redeem your GM Card Earnings. You and the dealer representative will then call The GM Card Redemption Centre to confirm your total amount of eligible GM Card Earnings, up to the Redemption Allowance maximum for your specific vehicle. Your eligible GM Card Earnings amount (subject to the Vehicle Redemption Allowance) will be deducted from the total purchase price or lease down payment of your new GM vehicle. Any GM Card Earnings which remain after the transaction will continue to be available to you until December 31, 2017, subject to The GM Card Earnings and Redemption Allowance Program Rules.

Yes. The Primary GM Card member can transfer all or a portion of their GM Card Earnings to the following eligible immediate family members: parents (including those of spouse or partner), partner/spouse, brother, sister, child, grandchild and grandparents.

Proof of relationship must be provided to the dealer representative upon request. Please review The GM Card Earnings and Redemption Allowance Program Rules for full details.

Call The GM Card Redemption Centre at 1-888-446-6232 and advise the representative that you'd like to transfer your GM Card Earnings. You will be given a transfer number to provide to your immediate family member. They will need to bring this transfer number when they visit their local GM Dealer to purchase their vehicle.

Yes, eligible immediate family members who are each Primary GM Card members and who reside at the same address at the time of redemption may combine their GM Card Earnings. Immediate family members are: parents, (including those of spouse or partner), partner/spouse, brother, sister, child, grandchild and grandparents.

Primary GM Card members cannot combine their GM Card Earnings with the Earnings of immediate family members residing at different addresses. Earnings cannot be combined and then transferred outside of the Primary GM Card members' household. Proof of relationship and residency must be provided.
