The Cadillac Owner Centre’s Hollywood Moments Contest Winner is... Douglas Grosfield
Douglas Grosfield has a 2009 silver Cadillac CTS-V that gets lots of attention from car lovers in Kitchener, Ontario—and wherever else it goes. More than just good looking, this car has run hot laps on a racetrack and Douglas says its performance “simply boggles the mind.”
Douglas uses his CTS-V for day-to-day driving, taking out clients, and just for “fun.” He entered our Hollywood Moments contest because it gave him the chance to do two things he really enjoys: go to the movies and talk about his car!
Douglas bought his CTS-V in 2009, even though he wasn’t in the market for a new car at the time. His beautiful black 2008 CTS4 was in the shop for some maintenance and the Cadillac salesperson gave him a loaner for the day. When Douglas went out to the lot, he was surprised to see that the loaner was a CTS-V. His first thought was that they had given him the wrong key fob—and he wanted to drive off before they realized their mistake. “I never drove my CTS4 again afterwards,” said Douglas. “I came back to the dealership at the end of the day and told them I wasn’t returning the CTS-V!”
As the winner of our “Off to the Movies” prize pack, Douglas will receive 24 movie tickets (2 per month) and a $100 Esso Gas Card. With so many free tickets, Douglas plans to see lots of movies, including Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Change-Up, and Drive. When asked what Hollywood celebrity he’d most like to have in his Cadillac CTS-V he responded, “Sandra Bullock!”

One hot day at the racetrack, GM flags flying everywhere, it was a Cadillac Day at the Track. Lots of CTSs, even a couple of Vs, there to have fun and learn about our vehicle's capabilities, if not one's own. I had my '09 V there, with the odd "tweak" in hand, ready to leave my mark on the local track (rubber marks, not paint ones). The morning was spent learning vehicle dynamics, friction coefficients, weight transference, handling characteristics (and limits), etc. from the pros, from the driver's seat of your own Caddy rocket. The afternoon was pure heaven, running hot laps, going ever faster as you learned the track, discovered the car's capabilities, and finding your own limits here and there! Towards the end of the afternoon, over all too soon, the pro (Porsche racer) beside me expressed amazement at the fact I was hitting 190 mph on the back straight, braking VERY hard into a 90 degree turn at 60+ mph, and the V was on rails! So much fun it oughta be illegal! Thanks GM!!
