Sometimes it’s what’s on the outside that counts
When looking for a new vehicle, there are many things to consider – design, performance, safety and price. But sometimes, the key deciding factor isn’t necessarily what’s under the hood, but the colour on top of it.
From the clothes we wear to the furniture in our homes, inspiration for a vehicle’s colour can come from anywhere. In Jil McIntosh’s article, “
Why pink cars could soon be all the rage
”, Michelle Killen, lead colour designer for GM North America, explains:
“If we’re designing a new colour for a full-size truck, we look for activities such as outdoorsman or canoeing and see what will influence the products that will be used. If kayaks or hiking bags have a bright orange, we’ll pull that.”
