Brent Mathieu has been driving GM cars since he was 16 years old—and he’s loved every minute of it. When he read about our Hollywood Moments contest, he jumped at the chance to write about his early days as a Buick driver. “It took me back to my youth,” he said, “to my parents’ Buick and to some wonderful memories.”
A few months ago, Brent, who lives in Rockland, Ontario, purchased his newest Buick, a black 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL. It’s a perfect match to everything he likes in a vehicle, from its stylish appearance to its comfort and performance to its outstanding quality. He primarily uses it for travelling to work and taking his daughter to and from university, but he’s also looking forward to using it for some road trips. “Every time I get into it,” said Brent,” I think, wow, this is a really nice car!” He credits the helpful staff at the dealership for suggesting the LaCrosse CXL. “They’ve gotten to know me as a customer over the years,” he said, “and they suggested the perfect vehicle for me.”
As the winner of our “Off to the Movies” prize pack, Brent will receive 24 movie tickets (2 per month) and a $100 Esso Gas Card. With so many free tickets, he plans to see lots of movies, including the next Batman installment, The Dark Knight Rises. When asked what Hollywood celebrity he’d most like to have in his Buick LaCrosse CXL, he responded, “My top choice is a true legend and my favourite actor and director, Clint Eastwood!”

GM vehicles are all I have ever owned, and I just took delivery of my 2011 LaCrosse CXL. What a car! However, my story is about my parents’ 1975 Buick Century Custom (350 small block). I took my drivers’ road test at age 16 during a blizzard in mid February in my parents’ Buick; typical weather for that time of year in my home town of North Bay, Ontario. I am not sure who was more nervous – me or the examiner, but I passed with flying colours. That was the start of many firsts and adventures, putting on well over 200,000 miles in that Buick. Great looking car and as tough as they come. I am ecstatic with my new Buick...might be time to re-live some of my youth!
