The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth - July 9 to 18, 2010

For 10 days every July, Calgary plays host to one of the most exciting outdoor events in the world – the Calgary Stampede.

With 180 rodeo contestants and more than a million dollars in prizes to be won, the Stampede is without a doubt the centre of the cowboy universe. But the entertainment goes well beyond the fierce competitions. The Stampede also has some of the biggest names in music perform on the Coke Stage and at Nashville North. Add to that tons of family activities and several cultural showcases and you quickly find that there's no shortage of ways to have a good time.

The tradition lives on

GMC is proud to be an official sponsor of the Calgary Stampede for over 20 years. GMC sponsors several Stampede events, provides courtesy vehicles for staff and volunteers, and is also thrilled to support the 87th GMC Rangeland Derby – the hottest ticket in town to see chuckwagon racing at its best.

In the time it takes to say "Yeehaw", the dust at the stampede is kicked up in the air and 36 competitors take the reins of 8 horses each during one of the most exhilarating events at the Stampede.

Chuckwagon racing has been around for years and still gets spectators out of their seats. It's the ultimate test of skill, coordination and guts, and thanks to GMC, drivers race for more than just pride – there are some big-time prizes to be won.
